DEC at Sir George Monoux College

Sir George Monoux College has been delivering DEC Level 3 since 2018, with the overwhelming majority of its students going on to built environment degrees at University. It is a leading member of the East London DEC Community, and a destination of choice for aspiring built environment professionals!

A major benefit of studying Design Engineer Construct at Monoux is the option to study a combination of A-levels and BTECs alongside DEC. Students can choose subjects including art, computing, history, media, physics and sociology.

Over 80% of DEC Level 3 students have gone on to degrees and apprenticeships in the built environment!

We are working with Monoux College and the London Borough of Waltham Forest, to ensure young people get to understand the changes happening around them in the Borough.

Adopter Support
Thanks to the incredible support of Allies & Morrison, DEC Level 3 was established at Monoux in 2018. Since 2021, Monoux has been adopted by Notting Hill Genesis

Student Outcomes
Students have gone on to study at some of the top universities in the country for built environment education, including Westminster, Loughborough and LSBU.

We caught up with a few graduates from the first cohort at Monoux to see where they were in 2022. Click here to read about their experience studying DEC at Monoux.

May 2021: Design Engineer Construct! students from Sir George Monoux Sixth Form College had the opportunity to experience a day in the life of a UAV Surveyor!
Class Of Your Own asked Plowman Craven to show students how a UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, commonly known as a drone) could be used to capture survey data. Plowman Craven's team was more than happy to help, flying over the college using our Topcon Falcon 8+ drone and providing DEC students and teacher Rob Lloyd with some great insight into its operation (and the maths and science involved in its use!). The students were then able to use this information, combined with existing Bentley Systems’ Context Capture data they had collected and processed with the help of Cadventure, Class Of Your Own’s training partner. The final model will now be incorporated into the DEC training programme and used in DEC schools all over the world.
